THIS IS A SECURE SITE
The security of your online transaction
is extremely important to us. You have probably heard about hackers
stealing credit card numbers from organizations. We want you to
feel secure about using your credit card for purchases from Harbor
Mercantile. We take several steps to ensure your credit card number
remains safe.
We use encryption for your transaction
so that your credit card number is not vulnerable during transmission.
When you enter your
credit card number into the order form, it is transmitted across
the Internet in an encrypted (scrambled) form, then decoded by
our payment processor. All online transactions are handled with
the latest 128-bit Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology.
WE DO NOT STORE YOUR CREDIT
CARD NUMBERS ON OUR SERVERS.
We do not ever even see
your full credit card number. Once your credit
card is transmitted with encryption to our payment processor
during your order, it never comes back to our systems. We leave
the security,
systems hardening and hacker proofing to our payment processor.
They are the trained experts in systems security. Our payment
systems provider's secure systems have been built according to
the strictest bank
standards, which include:
- Real-time monitoring of systems activity to immediately respond
to abnormal systems behavior and security breaches 24 hours a
day, 7 days a week.
- A state-of-the-art data center that stores your payment information
in highly secure rooms equipped with uninterrupted power supplies.
In the case of natural disasters, we have a fully operational
disaster recovery center located in a different city.
- Experienced information systems team to ensure that all security
features and systems are functioning seamlessly.
- Physical and logical security audit approved by the Royal
Bank, Ernst & Young and PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.
- 100% compliance with Visa's Account Information Security Program
(AIS Program). Through the AIS Program fifteen different security
requirements must be confirmed including access to data, firewall
integrity, encryption of stored data and physical security.
To view this site securely, you
will need to use a browser such as Netscape Navigator or Internet
Explorer that supports SSL (Secure Socket Layer) security protocol.
These browsers will let you know whether or not the site is secure.
There's a symbol, such as a key or lock, to show you are in secure
mode; if not, a warning will appear when you are about to send
us sensitive information. While we use a "secure mode" whenever
we request personal information like your credit card, we regret
that we can't guarantee that information transmitted through any
electronic mail (email) will be secure, since email sent over the
Internet is not secure. For any sensitive information, please call
us instead of emailing. |
